"Today we have settled a debt of honor." With these words, the commander of the Military Forces, Admiral Francisco Cubides, announced that in sustained combat with the Army, Willinton Vanegas, alias Dumar, one of the main leaders of the dissidents under the command of Néstor Gregorio Vera, alias Iván Mordisco, was killed in Guaviare.
This man was wanted by authorities to answer for the murder of four soldiers in May of last year, in an attack that occurred in the village of Bolivia, in the municipality of Argelia, in Cauca.
"The families of professional soldiers Jairo Urrego David, Jorge David Fuentes, Camilo Andrés Molina and Javier Sosa Ballesteros, can be certain that the blood of our heroes and that of all Colombians who have been victims of their criminal acts will never go unpunished. With the blessing of God, who loves soldiers, sailors and airmen so much, today good triumphed over evil: this leader of the 'Martín Villa Mobile Block', a faction of the FARC dissidents led by alias Iván Mordisco, was neutralized by Army and Police troops," Admiral Cubides wrote on his X account.

The fighting to find 'Dumar' took place in the last few hours in the Nueva York area of El Retorno, in the municipality of Guaviare, where the dissident was tasked with expanding his illegal business.
"This criminal, with a 15-year criminal record and an arrest warrant for aggravated conspiracy to commit a crime, was responsible for armed actions in which four heroes of the country died in Argelia, Cauca. His mission was to consolidate strategic drug trafficking corridors in Meta and Guaviare to strengthen dissidents and expand his criminal apparatus," explained the Minister of Defense, Pedro Sánchez from his X account.

For the high-ranking official in President Gustavo Petro's government, the killing of Willinton Vanegas is a blow to the structures controlled by alias Iván Mordisco, whose brother Luis Hernando Vera, alias Mono Luis, was arrested this week by police in Peñón, Cundinamarca.
"His inner circle is increasingly crumbling: the capture of his brother, alias 'Mono' or 'Luis', the killing of alias 'Libardo' and alias 'Cholinga' in Cauca, and now the neutralization of 'Dumar or Chito', confirm that we are making progress in completely dismantling his criminal group," said Minister Sánchez.

"Mono Luis" was prosecuted by the Attorney General's Office, which charged him with homicide and illegal possession of weapons, charges he did not accept. By order of a judge, this man was sent to prison while the criminal proceedings against him continue.
The capture of his brother, led 'Iván Mordisco' -who had not been seen since April- to write a letter to President Petro, to whom he said that he is"persecuting" the families of the guerrillas.
