The First Chamber of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) began this Tuesday, 2, the first day of trial of the criminal action against former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and seven other defendants for attempted coup d'état after the 2022 elections.
This morning's extraordinary session, which began shortly after 9 a.m., is the first of eight reserved for the justices to judge the case, which became a criminal action in March, after the panel voted to accept the indictment filed by the Attorney General's Office (PGR). In the afternoon, the trial continues in a regular session scheduled for 2 p.m. At the end of the sessions, on Friday afternoon, the 12th, the defendants will be convicted or acquitted of the crimes charged.
Bolsonaro and the other defendants are charged with armed criminal organization, coup d'état, attempted violent abolition of the Democratic Rule of Law, deterioration of listed heritage and qualified damage to federal property.
