Orem. Charlie Kirk, CEO and co-founder of the conservative youth organization Turning Point USA, died after arriving in critical condition at a Utah hospital after being shot Wednesday at an event at Valley College in Orem, Utah, the group reported.

A video captured by bystanders on social media appears to show Kirk sitting on the outdoor stage during a student Q&A event, moments before a loud crash is heard, sending the crowd into a panic.

University officials said a suspect is in custody.

“A single shot was fired on campus at a visiting lecturer,” according to a university alert. “Police are investigating, and the suspect is in custody.”

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is “closely monitoring reports of the tragic shooting involving Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University,” said FBI Director Kash Patel.

“Our thoughts are with Charlie, his loved ones, and everyone affected,” he said. “Agents will arrive on scene quickly, and the FBI fully supports the ongoing response and investigation.”

“We should all pray for Charlie Kirk, who was shot,” President Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social. “A great guy through and through. God bless him!”

The Republican posted on his social network, confirming the death of the influencer, Charlie Kirk:"The great, and even legendary, Charlie Kirk has passed away. No one understood or had the Heart of Youth in America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by all, especially by me, and now he is no longer with us. Melania and I extend our deepest condolences to his beautiful wife Erika and his family. Charlie, we love you!"

Utah Governor Spencer Cox said he is being briefed by law enforcement "following the violence directed at Charlie Kirk during his visit to Utah Valley University today."

“Those responsible will be held fully accountable,” he said. “Violence has no place in our public life. Americans of all political persuasions must unite to condemn this act. Our prayers are with Charlie, his family, and all those affected.”
