Police responded to a shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Police in Minneapolis responded to a shooting at a Catholic school, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz confirmed, writing on X (formerly Twitter), “I’ve been briefed on a shooting at Annunciation Catholic School and will continue to provide updates as we get more information."
The governor said he was “praying for our kids and teachers whose first week of school was marred by this horrific act of violence," but did not provide further details on casualties or the condition of those inside the school.
Minneapolis mayor Jacob Frey said that he is “monitoring reports of horrific violence in South Minneapolis". Writing on X, the mayor said that he’s in touch with the city’s police chief and that the emergency response team has been activated.
“We will share more information as soon as we can. Please give our officers the space they need to respond to the situation," he wrote.
US Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem said the Department of Homeland Security was monitoring the “horrific shooting" and coordinating with other agencies.
“I am praying for the victims of this heinous attack and their families," she said, adding that more information would be shared as soon as it becomes available.
Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar said she was “heartbroken by the horrific violence" at the school.
“My prayers are with the students, teachers, and families, and I am grateful for the first responders who are on the scene," she said.
