BRASÍLIA - Supreme Federal Court (STF) Minister Alexandre de Moraes (PL-SP) has ordered the blocking of bank accounts and Pix passwords of Congressman Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP), with the aim of hindering his actions in the United States. Movable and real estate assets, as well as the receipt of his salary as a parliamentarian, were also blocked.

"Alexandre de Moraes just blocked my bank accounts, but obviously in the name of democracy," Eduardo Bolsonaro quipped in a podcast interview.

Investigators analyzed the possibility of requesting the initiation of overt measures against the former president's son, such as ordering his arrest, but assessed that they would be of little effectiveness.

In recent cases in which the Supreme Federal Court ordered the arrest of Brazilians residing in the United States and accused of anti-democratic acts, there was no success in obtaining their extradition.

The investigators' understanding was that asset-based measures would be more effective in hindering Eduardo's activities abroad. The Federal Police are targeting, for example, the R$2 million that Jair Bolsonaro transferred to Eduardo to finance his stay in the US during this period.

Bolsonaro was the target of a search and seizure operation last Friday, the 18th , under suspicion of having encouraged, together with his son, actions by President Donald Trump against the Brazilian government. According to the Federal Police, these actions reached their peak when Trump announced a 50% tax on Brazilian products.
