Operation Details and Casualties

After the United States published a video showing the destruction of a vessel, supposedly Venezuelan, Caracas claims that the audiovisual material was made with Artificial Intelligence.

According to Donald Trump, 11"narco-terrorists" were killed in the maritime attack.

"It seems Marco Rubio continues to lie to his president: after leading him into a dead end, he now offers him a video with AI (thus proven) as 'proof'. What does Gemini say about this video?" Venezuelan Communications Minister Freddy Ñáñez posted in a message on his social media.

Ñáñez shared the query she made to Google's AI, Gemini, about the authenticity of the video and it yielded the following information:  “Based on the video provided, it was most likely created using artificial intelligence (AI). While I cannot confirm with certainty the exact tools used, several elements suggest that it was generated by AI.”

Gemini's response continues: The video shows a ship being attacked and then exploding in a way that looks like a simplified, almost cartoonish animation, rather than a realistic depiction of an explosion.

The video contains motion artifacts and a lack of realistic detail, common in AI-generated videos. The water, in particular, looks very stylized and unnatural.

The video content appears to be composed of various elements, including the text"UNRATED" and a watermark of unknown origin. These elements, along with the lack of detail, are common in AI-generated content.

This type of video, often referred to as a deepfake or AI-generated video, is becoming increasingly common. It can be used for a variety of purposes, including entertainment, disinformation, or artistic expression.

Ñáñez added in her message:"Enough of Marco Rubio's encouragement of war and attempts to wash President Donald Trump's hands with blood #VenezuelaIsNotAThreat."

Earlier, US President Donald Trump posted a message on his Truth Social account confirming the destruction of the vessel.

"Early this morning, at my direction, U.S. Military Forces conducted a kinetic strike against positively identified Tren de Aragua narco-terrorists in the Southern Command area of responsibility. The TDA is a designated Foreign Terrorist Organization, operating under the control of Nicolás Maduro, responsible for mass murder, drug trafficking, sex trafficking, and acts of violence and terrorism throughout the United States and the Western Hemisphere," Trump wrote.

He added: "The attack occurred while the terrorists were in international waters transporting illegal narcotics bound for the United States. The attack resulted in the deaths of 11 terrorists in action. No members of the United States Armed Forces were injured in this attack. Please let this serve as a warning to anyone considering bringing drugs into the United States of America. BEWARE! Thank you for your attention to this matter!"
