Profile and Background of Charlie Kirk

The FBI in Salt Lake City has released the first images of the man they believe was involved in the killing of Charlie Kirk. Authorities are asking for the public's help in identifying the man they believe played a key role in Wednesday's shooting.

Earlier in the press conference, the public safety director also said they have “high-quality footage” of the suspect, but it will not be released for now. If the investigation reaches a dead end, authorities will involve the media. Mason also spoke to the victim, Charlie Kirk’s wife: “The family is devastated, it’s hard to imagine what they’re going through. This is not Utah, this is not our community,” he said.

His gun has already been found.

We previously reported that new details have been released about the investigation into the Utah shooting. Authorities say the suspect may be a college student and that they have recovered the gun used in the shooting.

Beau Mason, the head of the Utah Department of Public Safety, told reporters that the suspect “appears to be of college age” and was able to fit in well with the campus community. While few details are being released at this time, the investigation has made several breakthroughs, including mapping the attacker’s movements. The man arrived on campus at 11:52 a.m., climbed the stairs to the roof of the building, and then to the scene of the shooting. He then jumped off the other side of the roof and fled to a nearby residential area.

FBI Special Agent Robert Bohls said investigators have recovered the weapon, a high-powered shotgun, believed to have been used in the attack. The weapon was found in a wooded area where the shooter is believed to have been hiding. They also recovered additional evidence, including a footprint, a handprint and a forearm print. Bohls added that more than 130 tips have been received from the community, which has been a significant help in the investigation.
