The Government of Mexico announced the creation of the Presidential Commission for Electoral Reform , which will be headed by Pablo Gómez Álvarez , head of the Financial Intelligence Unit (UIF).

This commission will prepare a"thorough diagnosis" of the state of the electoral and party model.

According to the government of President Claudia Sheinbaum , it also has the task of creating"a legislative reform that is in line with current times in Mexico, where democracy and the people are put at the center."

"In the coming days, the President of Mexico will announce the remaining members of the commission, who will work in coordination with members of the legislative branch, academics, experts, organizations, and citizens," the Mexican government stated.

This commission will also analyze figures such as popular representation and citizen participation mechanisms.

"In recent years, he has been the architect of other political and electoral reforms to pave the way for democracy in our country," the federal government emphasized.

Pablo Gómez Álvarez serves as head of the Financial Intelligence Unit (UIF). He holds a degree in Economics from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and has served as a federal deputy and senator of the Republic four times.

He has also worked as an academic, lecturer, author and co-author of several books, and as a writer for national newspapers.
