Trump's Statements and Predictions

US President Donald Trump said today that any deal to end the war in Ukraine would require a three-way summit with Russian and Ukrainian Presidents Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky, adding that there was a"25 percent chance" that his meeting with Putin in Alaska on Friday would not be successful.

As Trump said in an interview with American Fox News Radio before the summit with Putin,"there is a 25% chance that the meeting will not be successful."

But this could lead to a second meeting, in which Ukrainian President Zelensky would also participate, he added, according to the French news agency AFP.

He mentioned that any agreement on ending the war in Ukraine could be reached at this second, trilateral meeting with Putin and Zelensky.

The second meeting will be very, very important because it will be the meeting where they make a deal. And I don't want to use the word 'divide' things. But you know, to some extent that's not a bad term, right? Trump said.

A Russian government plane has just landed in Alaska ahead of tomorrow's Trump-Putin meeting. The plane took off from Moscow at 7:50 a.m. local time and landed at Anchorage International Airport. The aircraft tracking website Flightradar24 says it is carrying a Russian delegation to the meeting.

As he also said, according to the British BBC, in the event of a"good meeting" with Putin, he will call Zelensky to arrange a second meeting, which could take place in several places, including Alaska.

On the possibilities for ending the more than three-year-long war in Ukraine

Trump and Putin will meet in Anchorage, Alaska, on Friday to discuss ways to end the more than three-year war in Ukraine. Zelensky was not invited to the meeting, raising fears in Europe that the US and Russian leaders could strike a deal that would force Ukraine to make painful concessions.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stressed today, according to AFP, that security guarantees for Ukraine must be part of the peace talks, and in light of Friday's summit added that he hopes for progress.

The White House assured today that Trump will exhaust all options to"try to bring this war to a peaceful resolution."

Trump has "many tools at his disposal," including sanctions

White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt said Trump has "a lot of tools at his disposal," including sanctions. However, the president hopes to use diplomacy and negotiations to end the war in Ukraine, she told Fox News.

Leavitt confirmed that Trump and Putin will meet face-to-face in Alaska, and that lunch with delegations from both countries is also planned, with a press conference at the end of the meeting.
