The Congress of the Republic, through a statement, reported the postponement of the sessions scheduled for August 12 and 13, due to the posthumous tributes in the burning chamber that will be held in memory of the recently deceased Senator Miguel Uribe Turbay.

According to the legislative entity, the tribute will take place in the Elliptical Hall of the Capitol from this Monday, August 11th to Wednesday, August 13th.

"The Elliptical Hall of the National Capitol will be the space in which both corporations, together with the Colombian people, will be able to express their respect, gratitude and farewell to Senator Miguel Uribe Turbay, recognizing his legacy and democratic dedication to the country", mentioned the Congress of the Republic.

Protocol agenda

- Monday, August 11, 3:00 p.m.: Installation of the Ardiente Chamber. Entrance for family, friends, and members of Congress.

- Tuesday, August 12, 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.: Public entrance through Plaza Bolívar coordinated by Congress security.

- Wednesday, August 13, 9:00 a.m.: Tribute from the Congress of the Republic exclusively for family members and members of Congress, and transfer to the Primate Cathedral of Colombia.

Security measures

The National Police, as part of the security measures adopted for the senator's funeral, issued security guidelines for those wishing to visit Congress. It clarified that entry will be subject to personal searches and identity verification by security personnel and recommended attending only with personal documents and strictly necessary items. Likewise, it announced the list of objects that may not be brought into the Elliptical Hall: - Bags, suitcases, backpacks, rucksacks, large wallets or similar. - Umbrellas, extendable canes or tripods. - Weapons Fire, sharp weapons, knives, metal or stabbing tools.- Blunt objects (sticks, bats, pipes, chains, stones, hammers).

- Aerosols or chemical substances (pepper spray, self-defense sprays, spray paint).- Explosives, fireworks, flares, lighters or flammable liquids.

- Unauthorized electronic equipment (drones, portable radios, laser pointers, speakers).- Glass bottles, metal thermoses or rigid containers.

- Food and drinks (except for medical reasons).

- Animals, except duly certified emotional support animals.

- Banners, flags, notices or advertising material that may obstruct visibility or disrupt order.

- Items that generate noise (vuvuzelas, whistles, drums, megaphones).
