"Finally, we are hearing a signal from Russia that they already accept Ukraine's membership in the European Union. It is a shame that they are accepting reality with such a delay," Zelenskiy said during a briefing with the President of the European Council Antonio Kosta in Zakarpattia, reports Ukrinform.

Since 2013, he added, Russia has been coming up with this simple idea, but now, as he stated,"some other great friends of Russia in Europe should hear it".

"If even Putin does not protest, then the attitudes of some countries, especially Hungary, regarding the clusters in the negotiations look really strange," Zelensky said.

He noted that although Hungary is blocking the process of Ukraine's accession to the EU,"no one has stopped our steps towards it".

"Legally, and factually, we are doing everything that the European Union and the European Commission recommend to us. Therefore, I do not see that there is a basis for any measures by the Hungarian side towards us. But still, we are ready for dialogue," the Ukrainian leader pointed out, noting that he discussed this with the President of the European Council today.

Ready to talk to Orban

He added that he is ready to talk with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán about this issue.

"I am ready to meet with Orban, to discuss what they are not yet satisfied with and what else we can do to help them finally be satisfied," said Zelensky.

He also emphasized that there is already unanimity regarding Ukraine's future membership in the European Union.

"It is important that everyone equally sees Ukraine as a part of the European Union. This is a really big change, Ukraine's membership in the European Union. This is a guarantee of security. This concerns both economic security and geopolitical security. I am grateful to everyone who perceives the situation in this way," Zelensky pointed out, noting that Ukraine's membership in the European Union is also supported by the United States of America.

The topic of the conversation with Trump was revealed

He reminded that yesterday in Paris, during the conversation with US President Donald Trump, the key topic was Europe's energy security.

"Yesterday, in the conversation with President Trump, there was a lot of talk about energy security. And (about) how to reduce Russian revenues. President Trump was unhappy with the fact that Europeans buy Russian oil and gas," said the president of Ukraine.

This, he explained, particularly refers to the politics of some European countries - Slovakia, Hungary,"and probably there are other countries as well".

Zelensky stated that he will discuss this with the Prime Minister of Slovakia later today.
