In Odessa, they said goodbye to the head of the farm, the head of the Association of Farmers and Private Landowners of the Kherson Region, and the deputy of the Kherson Regional Council, Oleksandr Hordienko, who died on September 5 as a result of a Russian drone strike.

This was reported by Social.Kherson, Ukrinform reports.

Family, friends, and colleagues came to say goodbye to Oleksandr Hordienko.

Gordienko worked in agriculture for over thirty years. After the deoccupation of the right-bank Kherson region, he demined the fields of his farm. To protect workers and equipment from attacks by Russian drones, he purchased electronic warfare systems and anti-drone rifles.

According to the head of the Kherson regional council, Oleksandr Samoilenko, Gordienko was one of the first to return when the right-bank part of the Kherson region was liberated. He cultivated the most dangerous areas of land."A true patriot and hero of Ukraine. He believed that if he took this front, he must hold it," says Samoilenko.

Fellow regional council members remembered Oleksandr Hordienko as a man who did everything to save and protect his native land.

"Olexandr Dmytrovych is the only example of a farmer who worked with his people on the spot. He did not manage the farm from somewhere abroad or from other regions of Ukraine. He took a lot of risks. But he saved more than one life," said Dmitry Yunusov, director of the regional Department of Agricultural Development and Irrigation.

The deceased's nephew, Denys Hordienko, said that he had spoken with his uncle a week ago.

"I remember my uncle as a very cheerful person - he could cheer up any pessimist. He had a very strong spirit, always helping everyone. Even when it was difficult for him, he helped people sincerely and selflessly, without asking for anything in return. He said that only those who don't want to get to God ask," recalls the nephew.

As Ukrinform reported, on the morning of September 5, a Russian drone hit a car in a field , killing the head of the Kherson Oblast Farmers' Association and a deputy of the Kherson Oblast Council Oleksandr Hordienko.
