Casualties and Bombardment

The General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) convened under the chairmanship of the Speaker of the TBMM, Numan Kurtulmuş, with an extraordinary agenda regarding the Israeli attack on Gaza, the genocide and oppression it has inflicted on the Palestinian people, its famine policies, and the current situation in the region.

Kurtulmuş stated that 442 MPs attended the session after the MPs voiced their opinions in the General Assembly, saying,"If you accept this extraordinarily strong motion, including some of the issues raised here, we will share it with the world public. All of our party group chairs and deputy chairs have signed this motion. They have also expressed their approval for it to be designated as a Presidential Motion, published in the Official Gazette, and transformed into a state policy document."

Later in the General Assembly, the Parliamentary Speaker's memorandum signed by the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Kurtulmuş, was read.

The motion emphasized that Israel has turned its decades-long policies of occupation, destruction and annexation against the Palestinian people into a genocide, especially in Gaza, in the last two years.

The memorandum, which stated that Israel's policies of genocide, famine and hunger have cost tens of thousands of lives, included the following statements:

The UN and other international organizations have also stated that the genocidal Netanyahu government has deliberately condemned the people of Gaza to hunger and famine. Israel, which has decided to expand its occupation of Gaza and continues its massacres and oppression, has killed nearly 70,000 people, the vast majority of whom are women and children, injured more than 150,000, and destroyed the region's civilian infrastructure in the last two years. Palestinian women, children, youth, and the elderly have been condemned to a prison of death and hunger by the genocidal Israeli forces. Not content with these brutal acts, Netanyahu and his gang have taken their efforts to destroy Palestinians to the next level and have reached the stage of implementing a policy of annexing all Palestinian settlements, including Gaza.

Israel has escalated its violence against Palestinians through its occupying forces and illegal settlers in Jerusalem and the West Bank, accelerating land occupation, illegal demolitions, and the construction of illegal settlements. Unfortunately, no global institution other than the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court is taking any action to stop the Israeli government's unlawful decisions and massacres.

The rising voice of humanity in almost every inch of the globe has recently forced governments that either remained silent or supported this oppression to stand with the Palestinian people. The hopeful aspect of this dark picture is that some states that previously remained silent or supported Israel have now implemented decisions to recognize Palestine and boycott Israel. This progress is a great achievement of the human conscience. Today, as the Turkish Grand National Assembly, we gather here to convey our proposals and call for solidarity with the Palestinian people and the end of Israel to the parliaments of the world.

"WE INVITE YOU TO MAKE EFFORTS TO ENSURE UNINTERRUPTED HUMANITARIAN AID DELIVERY"

In its motion, the Presidency of the Assembly expressed the hope that the world's parliaments, which will support humanity in raising its voice and conscience, will heed its calls, and the following was noted:

As the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, we condemn in the strongest terms the occupation, destruction, and annexation practices to which the Palestinian people have been subjected by Israel for decades. We emphasize that the massacres against the Palestinian people, and most recently the use of famine in Gaza as a weapon of destruction, constitute the crime of genocide. We call on the international community to make greater efforts to compel Israel to accept a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, withdraw its armed forces from the region, and ensure uninterrupted humanitarian aid access to Gaza.

We condemn illegal settlement activities in Jerusalem and the West Bank and violence against the Palestinian people. We call for those who commit genocide and colonial crimes in Palestinian territories to be held accountable in court. We affirm that the establishment of a geographically unified, independent, and sovereign State of Palestine based on the 1967 borders is the only way to achieve just and lasting peace. We emphasize that the attacks and provocations carried out by the Zionist regime against Muslim holy sites, especially the Al-Aqsa Mosque, must be stopped. We call for the suspension of the Israeli government's membership in the UN and international organizations until it abandons its genocidal policies.

We call on all parliaments to end all military and commercial relations with Israel, to take urgent action to break the embargo imposed on the Palestinian people, to reject and condemn Israel's genocidal and colonial policies in the occupied Palestinian territories, to defend the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, to maintain the perspective of a two-state solution, and to call on countries that do not recognize the State of Palestine to recognize Palestine. We call on all parliaments to join the Parliamentary Group in Support of Palestine, established under the leadership of the Turkish Grand National Assembly in Istanbul on April 18, 2025.

In this context, I hereby submit to the approval of the General Assembly that this declaration be voted on and accepted and that the decision be published in the Official Gazette.

As a result of the voting, the Parliamentary Speaker's mandate was unanimously accepted in the Turkish Grand National Assembly General Assembly.

Parliament Speaker Kurtulmuş, who raised his hand to vote"yes" during the vote, said after the motion was passed,"After reading the text, we will see once again how strong it is. An extraordinarily strong text has been put forward. I thank you all."

In the General Assembly, the CHP's proposal to allow the Turkish Grand National Assembly to continue its work was not accepted.

Kurtulmuş stated that the discussions on the extraordinary meeting of the General Assembly were completed and closed the session to reconvene on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at 14:00.
