Cherdchai hits back at UN, accusing Cambodia of violating ceasefire agreement

Thailand attended the Conference with its shared commitment to advancing collective efforts for enduring peace and stability in the Middle East and to promoting a just, lasting, and comprehensive resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through the peaceful implementation of the two-State solution.

Regrettably, one delegation raised an unrelated issue. While I had not intended to bring this bilateral matter into this important forum, I must briefly clarify the facts to prevent misunderstanding.

On July 28, through the good offices of the Prime Minister of Malaysia as ASEAN Chair, a ceasefire was agreed. Yet, shortly after it took effect on July 29, our neighbour resumed cross-border fire and incursions into Thai territory, in grave violation of the agreement.

Thailand urges our neighbour to adhere strictly to the ceasefire agreement and reaffirms its commitment to working through existing bilateral channels and to refrain from disseminating false or misleading information and to engage in good faith.
