Viktor Orbán can rub his hands together. The United States has developed a peace plan that confirms the Hungarian Prime Minister’s policy regarding the Russian-Ukrainian war in almost every aspect. If the peace plan that was leaked the other day (or was intentionally leaked) is signed in its current form, it would mean that it was pointless for Ukraine to join the war and sacrifice hundreds of thousands of people. It would have been “more practical” to hold up its hands from the very beginning, as the Hungarian Prime Minister – and his political director, Balázs Orbán, openly admitted in his famous ’56 statement.

Orbán’s “peace-loving” stance meant nothing more than Ukraine’s capitulation as soon as possible.

Viktor Orbán often said that if Donald Trump had been the US president in 2022, when the total invasion began, the war would not have even broken out. Jake Sullivan, President Joe Biden’s national security advisor, essentially agreed with this, saying that there really would be no war. But “why not? There would be no war because Putin would be in Kiev. Trump would have forced him in. Because when it comes to dictators, Trump basically lets them do whatever they want.”

The current peace plan justifies Sullivan's assessment, as it is nothing more than Putin's push into Kiev.

Orbán knew exactly what to expect from Trump, he knew how much he hated Ukraine, and that his position throughout was that America should not provide any military support to the Ukrainians.
