The Czech Republic will not join the purchase of American weapons for Ukraine, which is resisting the Russian invasion. Prime Minister Petr Fiala (ODS) told the Publico server on Tuesday. According to him, the Czech Republic is focusing on other ways to help Kiev. US President Donald Trump announced on Monday that the US will sell modern weapons to NATO countries, with the Alliance coordinating these deliveries.

"The Czech Republic is focusing on other projects and ways to help Ukraine, for example through the ammunition initiative. Therefore, at this time we are not considering joining this project," the Prime Minister told server.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte recently said that the Czech ammunition initiative has made it possible to secure the delivery of more than three million rounds of ammunition to Ukraine, up from 1.5 million rounds last year. Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský (uncredited) told Bloomberg in June that Ukrainian forces now have approximately one round of ammunition for every two shots fired by Russia, compared to a ratio of 1:10 at the start of the war in February 2022.

Germany, Britain, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands, and Canada, among others, want to participate in arming Ukraine with American weapons. According to Trump, the equipment, including Patriot systems, will be shipped very soon, some of them"within a few days." This will allow European countries to replace the newly purchased weapons in their warehouses with those they send to help Ukraine.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius told German media after meeting his U.S. counterpart Pete Hegseth in Washington on Monday that Germany and the U.S. are preparing a joint delivery of two Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine. The cost will be covered by Germany at around two billion euros (49 billion crowns). Pistorus also called on allies to join in the purchase of American weapons for Ukraine.
