Russian Attacks on Ukraine

Kremlin Statements

Mayor of Moscow Sergei Sobyanin stated that at least 21 Ukrainian drones were launched towards Moscow since 18:00 local time on July 19. He added that emergency teams were sent to the places where the drones were shot down, but did not specify the extent of the damage.

Russian Telegram channels, referring to the statements of locals, reported that the fire broke out in Zelenograd, a settlement 37 kilometers northwest of the center of Moscow. Footage posted on social media shows vehicles on fire near a residential building. There was no information about possible victims or about the exact damage.

Drone hits residential building

In security camera footage shared by Russian Telegram channel Baza, remains of a drone appear to have hit the upper floors of a residential building in Zelenograd.

Due to the attack, restrictions were temporarily imposed on all four Moscow airports, Rosaviatsia reported. Incoming flights were diverted to Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg. All flight restrictions were lifted around 4 a.m. local time.

The Russian Ministry of Defense claims that a total of 93 Ukrainian drones were shot down across the country, including 19 over the Moscow region.

Ukraine is stepping up its attacks on the Russian capital

After months of intense Russian drone attacks on Ukrainian cities, including Kiev, the Ukrainian military appears to have stepped up its efforts to target the Russian capital.

This is the fourth night during which the Russian capital has been the target of Ukrainian attacks. The region experienced a similar attack the previous night, when the Ukrainian army allegedly launched 13 drones towards Moscow.

Kiev rarely comments on reports of drone attacks on Russian territory, although Ukraine regularly carries out attacks on military and industrial facilities in Russia.

The alleged attacks on Moscow came after US President Donald Trump offered the Kremlin 50 days to reach a peace deal or face"severe tariffs" from Washington.

Zelensky: An attack on Moscow is possible with American weapons

Before that statement, Trump reportedly asked President Volodymyr Zelensky during a telephone conversation in June whether Ukraine was capable of attacking Moscow.

Zelensky allegedly replied that such an attack would be possible if the US provided adequate weapons.

After the"Financial Times" published those allegations, Trump told the media that Zelensky should not target Moscow and that the US is not planning to deliver long-range missiles to Ukraine, writes the Kyiv Independent.
