European leaders have expressed concern about certain demands of the plan
The agreement must be approved by the presidents of Ukraine and the US before being sent to Moscow
The US peace proposal to end the war in Ukraine has been reduced from the original 28 points to 19, the Financial Times reported, citing sources familiar with the negotiations.
The sources, as stated, did not say which elements of the peace plan were removed.
After talks by US and Ukrainian delegations in Geneva on Sunday, both sides reported progress in efforts to end the war with Russia, but did not provide details on how some deep differences between Moscow and Kiev would be resolved.
Speaking to reporters after a day of talks with Ukrainian and European officials, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said tremendous progress had been made.
Ahead of the talks, European leaders raised concerns about some parts of the plan, including demands related to sanctions against Moscow and freezing Russian sovereign assets, which they argued were up to the EU to decide.
Trump and Zelensky must agree
EU leaders discussed progress from Geneva on Monday and decided how best to proceed, officials involved in the preparations said.
However, as Rubio said, the final text of the agreement will have to be approved by President Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and US President Donald Trump before it is sent to Moscow.
