During Tuesday's joint press conference with Finnish President Alexander Stubb, Karol Nawrocki emphasized that Finland has the best civil defense in Europe, and that Poland can learn from Helsinki in this regard. He also noted that the Baltic Sea region and relations with Finland are very important to Poland.

The Polish leader announced that he spoke with President Stubb primarily about security."The history of Finland and the history of Poland show that both Poles and Finns know the Russian soul and Vladimir Putin perfectly well. (...) We do not trust Vladimir Putin's good intentions. We are deeply convinced that (...) Vladimir Putin is ready to attack other countries as well," the president said.

He added that this is why Poland and Finland are strengthening their armed forces and developing allied relations. He also said that he and the Finnish president share the belief that the only leader of the free world who can force Vladimir Putin to negotiate is Donald Trump .

Karol Nawrocki noted that"the decision of the US President to leave American troops in Poland is good news for the entire region of Central Europe, for the Baltic states, for the Nordic countries."

The president announced that he had also discussed with Alexander Stubb expanding the Bucharest Nine formula, indicating that Stubb was open to this. He also mentioned the good economic cooperation between Poland and Finland, including in the field of nuclear energy.

Karol Nawrocki replied that he could not speak on behalf of the American people, but in his opinion, further sanctions packages are necessary. He emphasized that the existing sanctions are affecting the economy of the Russian Federation.

- I support further sanctions packages as well as secondary sanctions - he noted.

Alexander Stubb stressed that all opportunities should be used to put pressure on the Russian economy and stop purchasing Russian gas and oil as well as use frozen Russian assets.

The President of Finland also emphasized that some countries in the world directly or indirectly finance the"Russian war machine" and - as he noted - if we are able to impose sanctions on these countries, then"perhaps we will have some influence on ending the war."

- Europe and the United States are now coordinating their sanctions policy towards Russia and I think that is good news - he said.
