“On the day of negotiations, the Russians are also killing,” Zelensky says from kyiv

As the summit between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin began in Alaska, focused on ending Russia's war with Ukraine, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky provided an update on the fighting in a social media address from kyiv.

“On the day of negotiations, the Russians are also killing. And that says it all,” Zelensky wrote in an X post accompanying his video update.

He reviewed a list of Russian targets. “Sumy: a Russian attack on the central market. Dnipro region: attacks on cities and businesses. Zaporizhia, Kherson region, Donetsk region: deliberate Russian attacks. The war continues, and this is precisely because there is no order or even a sign that Moscow is preparing to end this war,” the Ukrainian president declared.

“Russia must end the war it started and which has been going on for years,” he added. The killings must stop. A meeting of leaders—at a minimum, Ukraine, the United States, and Russia—is needed, and it is precisely in this format that effective decisions can be made. Security guarantees are needed. A lasting peace is needed.
