Shortly after the video conference with Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders, US President Donald Trump stated that, if his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday in Alaska goes well, he would like to immediately follow up with a second, brief meeting, in which he, Vladimir Putin and the Ukrainian president would participate.
"If the first meeting goes well, we will have a quick second one," he told reporters."I would like to have a quick second meeting almost immediately between President Putin, President Zelensky and me, if they want me to be there."
Trump did not specify a time frame, but he warned that Russia would face consequences if President Putin did not agree to end the war. Yes, there will be consequences, Trump replied, recalling, however, that he has already warned of severe economic sanctions if there is no progress.
