Sinner's Upcoming Final

The 22-year-old Alcaraz is aiming for a hat-trick of Wimbledon titles, while for Sinner it will be the first time he has reached the final in London.

Alcaraz started his semifinal strongly, breaking Fritz immediately and winning his own game at love. It was that lightning-fast break that was enough to take the first set.

Fritz couldn't afford such a bad start again and started the second set well with a love game. Fritz then kept pace with Alcaraz and even reached 0-40 on the Spaniard's serve at 6-5. Alcaraz made an error on the first break point with a too-hard forehand, so Fritz leveled the score.

Irritated Carlos Alcaraz takes third set

Alcaraz was stung by the set loss and took a break lead early in the third set. The first break of the set was crucial again, as Fritz had no answer to the world number two and defending champion.

In the fourth set, the regular breaks failed to materialize, so the tiebreak had to decide the match. The first mini-break came from Alcaraz's racket, which Fritz ran with a subtle lob and then finished it off with a smash. But with a clever backhand down the line, the American broke back and followed up with another fantastic point. Now it was up to Alcaraz to show resilience on two set points for Fritz. He did a fantastic job, and the Murcian finished it off on his own serve. His opponent will undoubtedly still recall the chances he had to force a five-setter.

In the second match, Sinner seemed poised to quickly defeat Djokovic, who had reached the final in London no fewer than ten times during his brilliant career. Of those ten finals, Nole won seven, but an eleventh final appearance soon seemed a long way off.

Jannik Sinner easily wins the first two sets against Novak Djokovic

The top-seeded Italian won the first two sets effortlessly, 6-3, and Djokovic seemed in for a painful evening. Literally, as he underwent extensive treatment leading up to the third set.

But the treatment seemed to work wonders for the Serbian champion, as he won the first three games of the third set. However, the 38-year-old Djokovic's fans cheered too soon, as Sinner stepped up a gear and quickly turned the set around.

With four games won in a row, the Italian suddenly regained the lead and was quickly approaching the finish line. Djokovic struggled for a while and saved three match points, but ultimately had to concede defeat. He thus lost another chance to win his 25th Grand Slam title. This would make him the sole record holder. He now shares 24 titles with Australian Margaret Court.
