Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza

Axios reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is pushing to expand the scope of military action in Gaza amid the stalemate in negotiations.

The website quoted a political source as saying,"Netanyahu is working to free the prisoners held by Hamas in parallel with a military solution."

The source explained that Netanyahu is doing this because he believes Hamas is not interested in a deal.

The source indicated that humanitarian aid will be delivered to areas outside combat zones, and, to the extent possible, to areas outside Hamas's control.

The Israeli newspaper Haaretz said on Sunday that the US envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff,"fell into Netanyahu's trap," stressing that "Trump is the one who can force Israel to sign a deal to release the hostages and end the crisis."

She explained that Witkoff's grand promises were shattered, six months after he assumed the position of Trump's special envoy to the Middle East, and stated that Netanyahu is seeking to prolong the war in Gaza by setting conditions that he knows Hamas will reject.
