Russian despot Vladimir Putin reportedly proposed taking over the entire Donetsk region, including parts not occupied by Russia, in exchange for peace during Friday's summit with US President Donald Trump.

According to international media, Trump is reportedly supporting the proposal. On Monday, he is scheduled to meet with Zelensky and several European leaders at the White House.

But Zelensky wants nothing to do with this land theft:"We need real negotiations, and they must start where the front line is now. Europe supports that."

Constitution does not allow surrender of territory

"Putin has been unable to take Donetsk for twelve years. Moreover, the Constitution makes it impossible to give up or trade territory," the president said during a brief press briefing with EU leader von der Leyen in Brussels.

Zelensky further says he has"no signal" that Putin wants a meeting with him and Trump."If Russia refuses, sanctions must follow," he says. According to EU diplomats, Trump wants a summit between the three leaders later this week.
