Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready to attack other countries after his decision to start the conflict in Ukraine.

This was warned by Polish President Karol Nawrocki, AFP reported.

"We do not believe in Vladimir Putin's good intentions," Nawrotsky said at a press conference with Finnish President Alexander Stubb in Helsinki.

Poland and Finland border Russia, and both NATO members were alarmed by Moscow's invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

"While we are waiting, of course, for long-term peace, lasting peace, which is necessary for our regions, we believe that Vladimir Putin is ready to attack other countries as well," the newly elected president of Poland pointed out.

"That's why we are developing our armed forces, developing our partnership and our allied relations," he added, without specifying specific measures.

Nawrotsky said that the"security architecture" across the region has changed and that US President Donald Trump is "the only leader of the free world" who can force Putin to negotiate.

Last week, Trump suggested sending more troops to Poland when he hosted his Polish counterpart at the White House with a military parade.

Meanwhile, Stubb has spoken regularly with Trump in recent months as European powers push for an end to the war in Ukraine.

"We are trying to explain that Putin cannot be trusted, that Putin is using his usual delaying tactics," the Finnish president said.

The warnings echo similar concerns expressed by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who said on September 8 that “Putin’s imperialist plan will not end with the conquest of Ukraine,” but rather will be just the beginning.
