Five soldiers were wounded in a shooting at Fort Stewart military base in the US state of Georgia today. The attacker has been arrested, but part of the base remains closed due to the incident, reports the French news agency AFP.
Details about the shooter's identity and motive for the attack are not known. Authorities said there was no threat to the community following the incident, which is still under investigation, AFP reported.
All wounded soldiers were treated and transported to the hospital for further treatment.
White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said in a post on the X network that President Donald Trump had been briefed on the shooting and that the White House was monitoring the situation.
