The case of a minor allegedly involved in the attack on presidential candidate and senator Miguel Uribe Turbay, who has reportedly left an ICBF protection center, is causing concern.
Faced with this situation, the President of the Republic, Gustavo Petro, broke his silence by stating that his government did not let him"get away."
"For those who say we let a minor linked to the attack on Miguel Uribe escape, it's a lie," the head of state said.
He also stated on his personal X account: “A legally free person has decided to withdraw from the shelter we offered him.”

"Previously, he voluntarily provided all the information he had to the justice system," the head of state stated.
Petro's reaction was to a message posted by the director of the Colombian Institute for Family Welfare (ICBF), Astrid Cáceres:"No, there is no 'other' teenager prosecuted for the attack, there is a 17-year-old adolescent who voluntarily provided information that the Prosecutor's Office will evaluate and will be passed on to @ICBFColombia because he was an unaccompanied migrant; he did not escape because he was not in prison, he was in an emergency center."

The situation regarding the minor was brought to the attention of the Attorney General's Office: "The @PGN_COL expresses its rejection of the evasion of the adolescent witness in the criminal case being carried out for the attack against Dr. Miguel Uribe Turbay, who was being held in an Emergency Center of the @ICBFColombia."
This office has initiated the corresponding investigations to establish responsibility for the events, the conditions of protection in which the adolescent was found, and asks authorities to work to find his whereabouts as soon as possible in order to protect the investigation.

The Public Prosecutor's Office stated: "This office has initiated the corresponding investigations to establish responsibility for the events and the protective conditions under which the adolescent was found. It asks authorities to work to determine his whereabouts as quickly as possible in order to protect the investigation."
However, it was the Attorney General's Office itself that announced the development in the investigation into the attack on Senator Miguel Uribe Turbay.
Last Friday, July 25, the prosecuting body announced that another minor had turned himself in —in addition to the one who carried out the hit— who had allegedly participated in the attack that took place in the Modelia neighborhood, in western Bogotá.
