"Since President Gustavo Petro took office, cocaine production in Colombia has exploded to its highest level in decades. The United States is being flooded, and Americans are being poisoned," said Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent."President Petro has allowed drug cartels to flourish and refused to stop them."
Petro said in a post on X that he has been trying to fight drug trafficking for decades. “The years of effective fight against drug trafficking have earned me this measure from the government of the country that we have helped so much to stop its cocaine use,” Petro wrote. “A complete paradox.”
