In 2001, Turkey won the silver medal at home in Istanbul, losing to Yugoslavia in the final. Silver is the only medal for the Turks at the European Championships so far.

Greece has five European Championship medals to its name – two gold, one silver, and two bronze.

This century, the Greek men's basketball team has won two medals – gold in 2005 and bronze in 2009.

On Sunday, September 14, in Riga at 5:00 p.m., Finland and Greece will take to the field in the battle for bronze medals, while at 9:00 p.m., the grand final between Turkey and Germany will begin.

Germany triumphed in the World Cup two years ago, defeating Latvia in the quarterfinals, but in the previous European Championship in 2022, the Germans won bronze.

Finland will continue its fight for its first medal in European Championship history on Sunday.

In the second semifinal, 2.13-meter-tall Ercan Osmani scored 28 points (2p. 5/7, 3p. 6/8) and six rebounds for the winners. He scored 14 points in the first quarter, hitting four of four long shots.

Turkey captain Cedi Osman, who missed practice on Thursday due to injury, scored 17 points, while Alperen Şengin had 15 points, 12 rebounds, six assists and five turnovers.
