Several explosions rang out, and anti-aircraft defense was activated

According to the journalists of the Kyiv independent newspaper, several explosions could be heard in Kyiv from around 2:35 am local time. Officials stated that the city's air defenses were activated during the attack.

Damaged residential buildings in Desnjan district

Mayor of Kyiv Vitaly Klitschko stated that a nine-story residential building was hit in Desnyan district, with the second and third floors damaged.

The head of the city's Military Administration, Timur Tkachenko , said that a sixteen-story building was also hit in the same district, which caused a fire. Windows were reportedly broken from the first to ninth floors of the building.

Conflicting information about the attack on Obolon district

The State Service for Emergency Situations later announced that there was no strike on the solitaire in the Obolon district, despite initial reports.

Footage of the fire and the unknown condition of the wounded

Footage was posted on social media showing a large fire in one of the affected buildings. For now, there is no reliable information about the condition of the injured persons.

The attack followed the ballistic missile attack on the capital

The attack on Kiev came just one night after Russian forces targeted the Ukrainian capital with ballistic missiles, killing two people and wounding 12 others.

Frequent attacks and a warning before a severe winter

Since the start of the Russian invasion in February 2022, Russia has repeatedly attacked Ukrainian cities, including Kiev, using drones.

In recent months, attacks on the energy infrastructure have intensified, due to which Ukraine was forced to introduce restrictions in the supply of electricity.

On October 23, Klitschko warned that Kiev was preparing for, as he said,"the most challenging winter since the beginning of the Russian invasion".
