War in Ukraine

The Russian-Ukrainian war has been going on for more than three years. The front lines are now essentially frozen, but the conflict seems to be escalating as the warring parties try to acquire more allies and weapons and involve more countries in the conflict. But what will be decisive: arms shipments, sanctions, or perhaps peace talks? How long will the Ukrainians hold out and how long will Russian society tolerate the losses? We will try to answer these questions in our series of articles.

As a successful populist, the Hungarian prime minister has a talent for wrapping politically difficult issues in optimistic messages. He has already called his country an island of peace, but the summit will also come in handy for him because of the spring election. However, the European Union, as well as France, Germany and Poland, are definitely the losers.

The fact that US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin are visiting the Hungarian capital is like smearing grease on the hosts, justifying their political stance. Let's just say that in the past 15 years they have undermined democracy at home to such an extent that it is almost no longer worthy of the name. On the other hand, they have particularly distinguished themselves by continuously putting the brakes on the EU's Ukraine policy.
