Israeli Strikes on Yemen

French President Emmanuel Macron declared the Israeli attacks on Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis Gaza unacceptable, calling for the protection of journalists and civilians.

These attacks are unacceptable and the safety of citizens must be ensured, he stressed.

For his part, US President Donald Trump expressed his displeasure, stating that he was not aware of the strike that killed 20 people, including five journalists.

I'm not happy about this. I don't want to see it. At the same time, this nightmare has to end, he said.

Berlin appeared equally concerned. The German Foreign Ministry expressed shock at the news of the deaths of journalists, rescue workers and civilians, calling for a full investigation into the case.

According to Palestinian officials, the first strike killed Reuters cameraman Hussam al-Masri, who was broadcasting live from the hospital, while a second strike followed a few minutes later, killing other journalists and rescue workers who had rushed to the scene.

Also among the dead were Mariam Abu Dagha, a contributor to the Associated Press, Mohamed Salama of Al Jazeera, Moaz Abu Taha, a freelance journalist who also worked with Reuters, and Ahmed Abu Aziz.

Photographer Hatem Khaled, also a Reuters contributor, is hospitalized with injuries.

The Israeli army admitted that it hit the hospital area and announced an investigation, stating that it regrets any harm to innocent civilians and that it does not target journalists.

Reuters expressed shock at the deaths of its colleagues and called for immediate medical attention for the injured photographer, while the Associated Press said it was shocked and saddened.

The Palestinian Authority called on the UN Security Council to take measures to protect journalists and hold Israel accountable.

The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate called the attacks an open war against free media, noting that more than 240 Palestinian journalists have been killed in Gaza since October 2023.

The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) reported that 197 journalists and media workers have lost their lives since the start of the war, calling on the international community to hold Israel accountable for attacks on the press.

Israel continues to ban foreign journalists from entering Gaza, with coverage of events being carried out exclusively by Palestinians working for international agencies.

At the same time, the investigation into the death of Issam Abdallah, a Reuters journalist, who was killed in Lebanon in October 2023 by Israeli fire, remains open.
