The Israeli army announced that it carried out a series of air strikes targeting the Iranian capital, Tehran, and its suburbs during the past night hours.
The Israeli military said in a statement on Friday that these operations came"after precision strikes targeting dozens of Iranian military installations, with more than 60 Israeli fighter jets participating, firing approximately 120 munitions."
The statement added: "The airstrikes focused on industrial sites specializing in missile production in the Tehran area, which has been a vital center for the Iranian Ministry of Defense for many years.
The targets included facilities for manufacturing missile components, as well as factories for producing raw materials used in the manufacture of missile engines.
According to the Israeli military, the strikes targeted the headquarters of the SPND organization, which is responsible for research and development in the Iranian nuclear field. The organization was founded in 2011 by Iranian scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, who is considered the spiritual father of Iran's military nuclear program.
The strikes extended to include another facility that produces vital components for Iran's nuclear program.
In a related development, the statement said that Israeli air defenses"were able to intercept and shoot down four Iranian drones launched toward Israeli territory during the same night."
Israel and Iran continue to exchange destructive attacks for the eighth consecutive day, amid fears of US forces becoming involved in the conflict and international calls for calm.
