A fire broke out at a market on Shuanghe Street in Wanhua District, Taipei City, tonight (27th). Nearby residents filmed the flames shooting into the sky. The Taipei City Fire Department dispatched personnel and vehicles to the scene and extinguished the fire at 9:11 pm. A 75-year-old man with second burns was rescued from the scene and has been sent to National Taiwan University Hospital for treatment.

The Taipei City Fire Department received a report at 7:17 p.m. today that a fire had broken out in the Shuanghe Market building on Lane 11, Shuanghe Street, Wanhua District. Flames were already visible at the scene. The fire department immediately dispatched 5 command vehicles, 15 fire trucks, 6 ambulances, and 64 personnel to the scene for rescue.

When police and firefighters arrived at the scene, they found that the fire originated in a building with a rooftop and a ground floor connected by corrugated iron sheets. Fueled by strong winds, the fire may have spread to the adjacent kindergarten. An evacuation was initiated, and a 75-year-old man with second-degree burns was rescued and taken to National Taiwan University Hospital. The fire was extinguished at 9:11 PM, and the cause is under investigation.

Due to the thick smoke billowing from the scene, the Taipei City Environmental Protection Bureau conducted air quality testing, which determined the level to be moderate. Simulations were used to predict the direction and extent of the smoke dispersion, with the affected areas being Wanhua District and Zhongzheng District. (Editor: Yin Zhenwei)
