The International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) awarded Abdellatif Hammouchi, Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, the highest-ranking Interpol Medal, in recognition of his contributions and efforts in supporting the fight against terrorism and transnational organized crime in all its forms, and in promoting international security cooperation.

This medal, which is one of the highest honors awarded by the International Criminal Police Organization to prominent figures who have made exceptional contributions in the security field, was presented to Hammouchi on Thursday evening, during the closing ceremony of the 93rd session of the organization’s General Assembly, which was held in Marrakech between the 24th and 27th of this month.

The ceremony was attended by a number of national and international figures, including Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, Fouzi Lekjaa, Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy and Finance in charge of the Budget, Lieutenant General Mohamed Haramou, Commander of the Royal Gendarmerie, Mohamed Yassine Mansouri, Director General of the Directorate of Studies and Documentation, Mohamed Ben Ali Kouman, Secretary General of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers, as well as other figures.

During the ceremony, Abdellatif Hammouchi presented symbolic gifts to both Dr. Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, the outgoing president of Interpol, and Valdecais Ucevic, the organization's secretary general, in recognition of their efforts and in appreciation of their distinguished service to the international police organization. The organization's flag was also handed over to Hong Kong, the host city for the next session of its General Assembly.

In his closing remarks at the session, which he chaired for four years, Major General Dr. Ahmed Al Raisi of the United Arab Emirates affirmed that “the world has witnessed during these days a remarkable example of professionalism and readiness, and it was clear at every moment how the wise vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI has made security and stability the basis for development and a pillar of international cooperation.”

The spokesperson added that “Morocco has offered the world more than just headquarters to host meetings, but has presented a living model that proves that the true values of the police — namely service, trust and respect — are lived first before they are practiced in the field,” noting that “the General Assembly approved resolutions that enhance Interpol’s ability to confront organized crime, strengthen the exchange of information, improve the quality of international notices, and adopt advanced digital platforms that raise the level of security response globally.”

Al-Raisi stressed that “Morocco’s hosting of this session was not a passing event, but rather a message of confidence to the whole world, which made the Kingdom qualified to host the most important international events and demonstrations, including the 2030 World Cup and major conferences in the fields of sports, economy, development and security,” highlighting that “this confidence is a living testament to the strength of Morocco’s institutions and its continued ability to combine authenticity and modernization in a safe and stable framework.”
