A drone strike overnight targeted a key aircraft plant near Moscow, damaging a critical infrastructure facility on site, according to Ukrainian and Russian sources.

“The Lukhovitsky Aircraft Factory in the Moscow Region was hit,” Andriy Kovalenko, head of Ukraine’s Center for Countering Disinformation, confirmed via Telegram.

Kovalenko said the plant is involved in producing and modernizing MiG-29 and MiG-31 fighter jets, and is part of development projects for a “promising frontline fighter” based on the MiG platform. It also plays a role in the Geran/Shahed UAV modernization cycle.

Russian outlet Astra, citing sources in the Emergency Services Ministry, reported that around 1 a.m. on July 11, at least two drones hit the plant. One damaged a compressor station, partially collapsing a wall. No injuries were reported.

The Kronstadt drone production facility in Dubna, Moscow Region, was also reportedly targeted the same morning. Kronstadt, which reportedly manufactures Orion strike and reconnaissance drones, was previously attacked in May 2025.

The company claims to have over 15 years of experience developing drone technologies for both the Russian and global markets.

Neither Ukraine’s General Staff nor Russian officials have commented officially on the latest wave of strikes.

As Kyiv Post previously wrote, residents in Lukhovitsy reported drone activity and powerful explosions near the Lukhovitsy Aviation Plant, a branch of Russia’s MiG aircraft corporation, and a nearby oil depot early Friday morning.

In motorists’ chats, one user shared a map and wrote: “They f**ing hit just right above us.” The suspected strike zone is near the village of Larino, where the plant is located.

In Tula’s Proletarsky District, on social media channels popular with locals, there were reports of explosions near major Russian defense factories – all previously targeted this year: JSC “Constructor’s Bureau of Instrumentation” (guided weapons), SPLAV (MLRS production), and Shcheglovsky Val (air defense, small arms)

In Taganrog, drone debris fell on the Beriev Aviation Plant, known for repairing Navy and Long-Range Aviation aircraft. The site was previously hit in December and March.

Russia’s Defense Ministry said its air defenses downed 155 Ukrainian drones overnight, including 53 over Kursk, 13 over Tula, and 11 each over Orel and Moscow regions.
