The Atlas Lions drew (0-0) against the Omani team on Friday, December 5, in the second round of the Arab Cup group stage, at the Education City Stadium in Doha, Qatar.
For this second match, Tarik Sektioui made four changes to his starting eleven. Oussama Tannane, Ashraf El Mahdioui, Tarik Tissoudali and Salaheddine Chihab were replaced by El Mehdi Benabid, Marwan Saadane, Walid El Karti and Abderrazak Hamdallah.

In the first half, both teams created a few chances but failed to change the scoreline. Captain Hamdallah was twice in an ideal position to open the scoring, but to no avail.
Just eight minutes into the second half, Hamdallah was shown a red card after a dangerous play in which he caught defender Musab Al Shaqsy in the eye.
The Omanis then took control of the match and created numerous chances to find the back of the net and open the scoring. Carlos Queiroz made a few changes to freshen up his squad, but without managing to alter the result.

It should be noted that this is not the first time the Omani coach has had a run-in with Morocco. The Portuguese coach has often caused problems for the Atlas Lions: he had already beaten them three times in his career, first with South Africa at the AFCON Mali-2002 (3-1), then with Iran (1-0) at the World Cup Russia-2018, and finally with Egypt (2-1) at the AFCON Cameroon-2021.
Following this match, Walid El Karti's teammates remain first in Group B with 4 points, while Oman obtains its first point of the competition.
