Rimas Kurtinaitis's team (5-2), after winning the world championships, remained fifth in the Old Continent, which is the highest result since 2015, when the Lithuanian team won silver at the European Championships.
Sixth place went to the Poles (4-3), whose number of wins and losses was exactly the same as the Slovenians (4-3), but in the group stage the Poles won against Luka Dončić's army (105:95), so the Slovenians remained seventh in the Old Continent's championship.
The Georgian national team, which made the historic journey, can also be proud of its eighth place (3-4).
The French remained ninth, and the tournament favorites, the Serbs, came tenth.

Let us remind you that at the European Championship in Riga, the Lithuanians could not hold their own in the quarterfinals 76:87 against the Greek team led by Giannis Antetokounmpo and ended their performance.
The official task set by the Executive Committee for the Lithuanian men's national team was to take 1-5 places, as well as to qualify for the 2027 World Cup in Qatar.
However, this time, the team broke through to the quarter-finals after a decade and performed better than in previous tournaments – in 2017 (9th place) and 2022 (15th place) – and broke through to the round of 16.
However, both the coach and the association"expected more."The formal goal is to get into the top four. This is a minimum goal. But the coaches' ambitions are much higher. Medals are the ambition we are aiming for," said President Mindaugas Balčiūnas before the tournament."I always say that there is first place and all the others. My goal is for the players of the national team to follow the same philosophy," added R. Kurtinaitis.
The Lithuanian national team started the championship in Group B, where they defeated Great Britain (94:70), Montenegro (94:67), Finland (81:78) and Sweden (74:71), but lost to Germany (88:107). In the round of 16, the Lithuanians defeated Latvia (88:79), but in the quarterfinals they were defeated by Greece.
Lithuania will start the 2027 World Cup qualifiers in November. In Group D, Italy, Great Britain and Iceland will be its opponents. The three best teams in the group will advance to the second round. The qualification will take place in six FIBA windows until February 2027. The Lithuanians will start the matches on November 27 and 30 – away against the British and at home against the Italians.
