The Israeli army confirmed it had bombed another high-rise building in Gaza City, claiming it was “used by Hamas.”

“Hamas terrorists installed intelligence equipment and established observation posts in the building to monitor the location of troops in the area,” a military statement said.

In the note, the Army claims that the terrorist group had also “ established underground infrastructure next to the building.”

in the last 24 hours amid a new campaign of airstrikes with which they seek to destroy the last remaining ones before taking complete control of the city.

Throughout these nearly two years of offensive in Gaza, Israel has been using the same argument to bomb different buildings: the presence of Hamas “terrorist infrastructure.”

This Friday, the Israeli army announced that “ in the coming days ” it would begin a wave of attacks against multi-story buildings in Gaza City (north of the Strip) that have “become terrorist infrastructure.”

"In the coming days, the army will attack structures that have become terrorist infrastructure in Gaza City: cameras, observation command centers, sniper and anti-tank positions, and command and control compounds," the statement said.

The announcement came after the army said on Thursday that it already controls 40% of the Gaza capital and intends to completely occupy it, pushing the million people concentrated in the city to the south.

In its statement, the Army said it “has conducted extensive intelligence gathering operations and identified significant Hamas terrorist activity in various infrastructures in Gaza City, particularly in high-rise buildings.”

"Furthermore, Hamas's underground terrorist infrastructure is located adjacent to these buildings, designed to facilitate ambushes against Israeli troops and provide escape routes from the command centers established within them," the statement added.

He also stated that in this new bombing campaign against buildings,"they will take numerous measures to minimize the risk of harming the civilian population."

Israel called for the evacuation of Gaza City

The Israeli army urged residents of Gaza City on Saturday to evacuate to a "humanitarian zone" in the south, ahead of the announced ground offensive to take the town, the most populated in the Palestinian territory.

Colonel Avichay Adraee, the Israeli army's Arabic-language spokesman, made the call to evacuate via social media.

The UN estimates that nearly one million people live in this area and warned of a “disaster” if the offensive expands.

The Israeli army, which claims to control 75% of the Gaza Strip and 40% of the city, maintains it is seeking to take the town to destroy the Hamas terrorist group and free the hostages.

The evacuation call followed remarks by US President Donald Trump on Friday that the United States is in “very deep” talks with Hamas, the organization responsible for the October 7, 2023, attack in Israel that led to the war.

“We told them, ‘Let them all out right now, let them all out, and much better things will happen for them,’” Trump told reporters.

Trump added that some of the hostages may have “recently died.”

The Israeli military estimates that 25 of the 47 captives remaining in Gaza—of the 251 kidnapped on October 7—have died.

In August, the Palestinian Islamist movement accepted a ceasefire proposal to release hostages in stages, with mediation by Egypt, the United States, and Qatar.

The government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is demanding Hamas disarmament and asserts that it intends to regain control of security in the Gaza Strip.
