Authorities in Los Angeles, California, will implement a curfew in some areas of the city's downtown.

This, in response to the demonstrations registered in the city in rejection of Trump's raids against migrants.

For her part, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass announced that the curfew will be in effect from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

"I have declared a local state of emergency and imposed a curfew in downtown Los Angeles to stop vandalism and looting," they told reporters.
"Anyone found on the streets in the area where it has been imposed will be arrested," the sheriff announced.

What's happening in Los Angeles?

The outbreak in Los Angeles began on Friday, when Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) carried out several raids at various locations, leading to the arrest of at least 44 people in the Westlake district.

In response, crowds turned out to protest these arrests, prompting Trump to order the deployment of the National Guard and Marine Corps to quell the protests.

Immigration authorities raided an Omaha meatpacking plant and took dozens of workers aboard buses, disconcerting company executives who maintain they had followed the law.

The raid occurred around 9:00 a.m. at Glenn Valley Foods in South Omaha, an area with nearly a quarter of foreign-born residents, according to the 2020 census.

Protests against immigration networks have spread to Chicago, Illinois. While Trump has ordered the deployment of thousands of National Guard members and 700 active-duty Marines to Los Angeles, despite California authorities claiming the measure is unnecessary and will exacerbate the situation, in Chicago there have been no reports of security personnel present to contain the protests.
