The Mufti condemns Israel's decision to occupy Gaza: a dangerous escalation and a hostile approach aimed at liquidating the Palestinian cause.

Saturday, August 9

Dr. Nazir Muhammad Ayyad, Grand Mufti of Egypt and Chairman of the General Secretariat of Fatwa Authorities and Institutions Worldwide, condemned in the strongest terms the Israeli Cabinet's decision to completely occupy the Gaza Strip. This decision constitutes a dangerous shift in the course of aggression against the Palestinian people, a flagrant violation of international law and UN resolutions, and represents a clear hostile approach toward the systematic liquidation of the Palestinian cause and an infringement on the historical and legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, who have been suffering under occupation and suffering for decades.

The Grand Mufti of Egypt affirmed on Saturday evening that this dangerous escalation represents a blatant violation of all humanitarian principles and values recognized by international conventions. It is an extension of the occupation's approach based on expansion, settlement, and systematic violence, in an attempt to impose a new reality on the ground by force of arms, far removed from the logic of justice or peace. This decision is also a provocative step that undermines the prospects for stability in the region and opens the door to further tension and destruction.

The Grand Mufti called on the international community, the Security Council, human rights and humanitarian organizations, and the free people of the world to shoulder their moral and humanitarian responsibilities and not be satisfied with statements of condemnation and denunciation, but rather to take practical and tangible steps to stop the aggression, lift the unjust siege imposed on the Gaza Strip, and work to implement international legitimacy resolutions, in a way that achieves comprehensive justice and guarantees the restoration of the Palestinian people's legitimate rights to establish their independent state, on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The Grand Mufti called on the Arab and Islamic nations, both peoples and governments, to unite their ranks, intensify support in all its political and humanitarian forms, and stand firmly against these schemes aimed at liquidating the Palestinian cause, which has been and will remain the central issue of the Islamic nation and the true key to achieving just and lasting peace in the region.

He called upon God Almighty to inspire the Palestinian people with patience and steadfastness, to grant them a glorious victory, to restore security and stability to the land of Palestine, and to grant freedom and dignity to its free and proud people, for He is the Guardian of that and is capable of it.
