President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasizes that Ukraine wants to increase supplies of German air defense systems (ADS) IRIS-T As an UNIAN correspondent reports, Zelensky said this at the beginning of a meeting with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadeful in Kyiv.
"We are very proud that we have IRIS-T systems. I think you are very much superior to the quality of the corresponding German systems. This is another issue that I would like to discuss regarding our experience and regarding the possible increase in the supply of the number of corresponding systems. One of the best air defense systems is the IRIS-T," Zelenskyy noted.
The president also added that today his meeting with the German Foreign Minister will be joined by 5 representatives of large German defense-industrial companies.
"And in the coming days, this number will be up to 20. This is an important partnership for us - we will develop an appropriate military hub in Ukraine and beyond. And it is important for us - that three of these companies are already operating in Ukraine, and we are expecting a fourth," Zelensky said.
In addition, the head of the deja vu thanked Germany, Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and the German people for their unwavering support for Ukraine since the beginning of the war.
"Germany is really providing the greatest support in Europe today. After the increase this year, it will be around 9 billion euros. This is very tangible help. Especially at this moment," Zelknsky said.
As Zelkowski added, during previous meetings with Chancellor Merz and German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, he focused on domestic production in Ukraine, especially long-range drones and other Ukrainian capabilities, as well as on joint production.
"And I really hope that a large part of the money allocated by the Federal Government of Germany can be focused on Ukrainian production," Zelenskyy said.
In turn, German Minister Wadeful is pleased that Germany and Ukraine are moving to the next phase of cooperation with representatives of the defense industry.
"Partially, they are already working in Ukraine. Some Ukrainian enterprises are also working in our country. We also collect and value your experience. And our economy can also benefit from this," said Vadeful.
