Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed the imposition of sanctions on Russia with his US counterpart, Donald Trump, on Tuesday, after the White House leader gave them until this weekend to end the Kremlin's delaying policy regarding a ceasefire in Ukraine.
The key, of course, is to end the war. We thank the US president for all his efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace. It is essential to stop the deaths as soon as possible; we fully support him. There could have been many months without war if the Russians had not prolonged it, he said.
Zelensky, who described his phone call with Trump as productive, explained that during their conversation they coordinated their positions, exchanged assessments of the intensification of Russian attacks, and discussed sanctions against Russia.
Its economy continues to decline, which is why Moscow is paying such close attention to this approach and Trump's determination. This could change many things, the Ukrainian president stated on his X social media account.

The two leaders also discussed military cooperation, particularly the agreement on US drones:"We are ready to discuss it in detail and conclude it. It is one of the most solid agreements in existence," he said.
