Pentagon blocks Ukraine's use of ATACMS missiles against Russia

The Pentagon has quietly blocked Ukraine from using US-made long-range tactical missile systems (ATACMS) to strike Russian territory, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing US officials.

This limits Kyiv's ability to use these weapons in defense against Moscow's invasion.

The news comes at a time when US President Donald Trump is publicly expressing increasing dissatisfaction with the three years of war and his inability to secure a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine.

After his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and subsequent meetings with European leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, which failed to produce tangible progress, Trump said on Friday (August 22) that he was again considering imposing economic sanctions on Russia or, alternatively, leaving the peace process.
