(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Ha Chae-rim = North Korea announced the news of Chairman Kim Jong-un's arrival in Beijing, China through internal media outlets such as the Rodong Sinmun and the radio station Korean Central Broadcasting Station, which are available to the public.
The Rodong Sinmun, the official newspaper of the Workers' Party of Korea, reported on its front page on the 3rd,"Chairman Kim arrived in Beijing, the capital of the People's Republic of China, by special train on the afternoon of the 2nd to attend the ceremony commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War (World War II)."
The newspaper published photos of Chairman Kim being greeted by Cai Qi, Secretary of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of China (member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China and officially ranked fifth), and Wang Yi, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Communist Party of China (also serving as Minister of Foreign Affairs), with his daughter Ju Ae right by his side.
When North Korea's internal media mentions Ju Ae accompanying Chairman Kim, they usually refer to her as"beloved daughter," but this day's report, like the previous day's Korean Central News Agency report, did not include any specific mention of Ju Ae.
In addition to the previous day's report by the Korean Central News Agency, the newspaper reported that embassy staff, including North Korean Ambassador to China Ri Ryong Nam, were present at the station, and described the atmosphere at the scene as"the city of Beijing is enveloped in the most friendly atmosphere of friendship and enthusiastic welcome" to welcome Chairman Kim, who is visiting China out of"friendship toward the Chinese people."
