Sirens sounded in Israel just before dawn on Saturday after Iran fired another series of missiles into the country, the BBC reports. The missile attack reportedly sent millions of people fleeing the country, and explosions were heard.

Iran's Fars news agency reported that senior military officials warned that strikes on Israel would continue, and were also quoted as saying that the conflict would spread to US bases in the region in the coming days.

"This confrontation will not end with yesterday's limited actions and Iranian strikes will continue," Fars quoted an unnamed official as saying.

Israeli forces struck about a hundred targets throughout Iranian territory, including uranium enrichment facilities.

Senior Iranian military leaders, such as the commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, Hossein Salami, and the chief of staff of the armed forces, Mohammad Bagheri, were also targeted, who were killed in the attacks.

Israel says the strikes were necessary to stop Iran's nuclear ambitions and military plans, which threaten Israel's security.

Iran responded by launching more than 100 ballistic missiles into Israeli territory.

Most of the rockets were shot down by Israeli air defense systems, but the strikes caused damage in areas of Tel Aviv and other cities, injuring dozens of people, some of them seriously.
