María Corina Machado Nobel Peace Prize Win

Trump's Role and Claims About Gaza Deal

Washington/Oslo – He didn't get it. US President Donald Trump was confident he had a strong chance of winning the Nobel Peace Prize. But it went to Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado (58) – now the White House is reacting.

"President Trump will continue to make peace agreements, end wars, and save lives," White House Communications Director Steven Cheung (43) wrote on X after the Nobel Committee's announcement."He has the heart of a humanitarian, and there will never be another like him who can move mountains with sheer willpower."

The anger is not unexpected: US President Donald Trump saw himself as the top favorite for the world's most important peace prize. Within just seven months, he had ended seven wars that were, in fact, impossible to end, he recently said at the UN General Assembly in New York."Everyone says I should get the Nobel Peace Prize for every single one of these achievements," Trump said. His previously successful campaign for peace in Gaza was added to the mix.

But the five-member Nobel Committee, which decides on the award, had already met for a final session on Monday – two days before the announcement of an agreement on a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas and the release of the Israeli hostages in the Gaza Strip.

Most recently, Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu (75) demanded:"Give Donald Trump the Nobel Peace Prize - he deserves it!" The head of government posted an AI photo montage on X in which he himself is presenting the Peace Medal to the US President.
