The main planning meeting for the African Lion 2026 military exercise is being held at the Southern Zone headquarters in Agadir, from December 8 to 12, 2025.
This meeting aims to deepen discussions on interoperability, logistics, and force integration during the exercise across multiple domains—air, land, sea, and special operations—according to a statement from the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR). Scheduled from April 20 to May 8, 2026, in the regions of Agadir, Tan Tan, Taroudant, Kenitra, and Ben Guerir, African Lion 2026 aims to improve interoperability among participating countries, strengthen operational readiness and the capacity to conduct combined and joint operations, and promote regional security and stability, the same source emphasizes.
More than 40,000 military personnel have participated in the last five editions of this exercise, demonstrating the commitment of our partners and the importance of this annual event, which is the largest military event in Africa, concludes the statement.
