Within two weeks, US President Donald Trump will make a decision to enter the war against Iran on Israel's side.
Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said this at a press conference at the White House on Thursday.
She referred to a message from Trump and said:
– Based on the real possibility that there may be negotiations with Iran in the near future, I will make a decision on whether or not to enter into it within the next two weeks.
She further said that Trump is interested in finding a diplomatic solution with Iran, but that his highest priority is ensuring that Iran does not obtain nuclear weapons.
She said any deal would have to ban uranium enrichment by Tehran and eliminate Iran's ability to acquire nuclear weapons.
Expecting a response within two days
Although Trump says he will provide an answer within two weeks, Israel expects a response within two days.
A source in the Israeli authorities tells the newspaperTimes of Israel that they expect a decision soon on whether the United States will join their side of the war against Iran.
"The expectation is that they will join, but no one is pressuring them. They have to make their own decision," the source told the newspaper.
On Thursday, anonymous US officials told Bloomberg that the US is preparing a possible attack on Iran in the coming days. President Donald Trump is said to have prepared an attack plan, according to the sources.
