Explosion at police headquarters! Sirens blare in Jerusalem, death toll announced, Trump speaks out (VIDEO)

Sunday, June 15

A powerful explosion rocked central Tehran near Valiasr Square this afternoon. Iranian media reported that an Israeli drone had hit the Tehran police headquarters. Tehran responded with a new series of missile strikes, causing alarm in Israel and sirens to sound in Jerusalem.

Footage of the explosion, released by the Tasnim news agency, showed smoke rising from the area, with debris and broken glass at the scene. Witnesses reported that water supplies had been cut off in some parts of the city.

Later, explosions also rocked the city of Mashhad in Iran's remote northeast, near the border with Turkmenistan. Two locations in Mashhad suffered explosions and fires. Air defenses were activated in the area, the Fars news agency reported.

The Israeli military said its air force had bombed the airport in Mashhad, about 2,300 kilometers from Israel. It was the deepest strike since the start of the operation. The air force is seeking to achieve air superiority over all of Iran, the military said.

Six generals also died

According to security sources, more than 200 people have been killed in Israeli attacks on Iran since the start of the conflict. Iranian media reported today that at least 128 people died in the attacks on Friday and Saturday, and hospitals received around 900 wounded.

Iran confirmed today that six more generals had been killed in Israeli strikes. This means that at least 14 senior officers have been killed, including the Chief of Staff of the Iranian Army Mohammad Bagheri and the Supreme Commander of the Guard Hossein Salami. Their funerals are scheduled for Tuesday, the German news agency dpa reports.

Israeli overnight attacks on Iran hit, among other things, oil depots in Shahran, the Narmak neighborhood in Tehran, where members of the Iranian armed forces reside, a gas refinery, and military facilities in several provinces.

More than 80 targets in Tehran attacked

The Israeli military announced today that it had attacked more than 80 targets in Tehran overnight, including the Iranian Ministry of Defense and the headquarters of Iran's SPDN nuclear development program.

Iranian President Masoud Pesekian called on Iraq to prevent Israel from using Iraqi airspace to attack Iran in a conversation with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani today.

Iran launched a new series of airstrikes on Israel this afternoon. The Israeli military urged citizens to take shelter. Sirens sounded in Jerusalem, the French news agency AFP reports.

Trump has spoken out

US President Donald Trump told ABC News today that there is a possibility that the United States will become involved in the conflict between Iran and Israel. He added that he is also open to the possibility that Russian President Vladimir Putin could act as a mediator in the conflict. Russian President Putin, he said, is ready to act as a mediator in this conflict. He added that he and Putin spoke about it on the phone.
